FAQ

✨ Ordering & Custom Fit

Do you make custom-fit costumes?
Yes — and it's at the heart of everything we do. Every Wicked & Wonder piece is crafted to your measurements, not a generic size chart. When you place a custom order, we'll guide you through exactly what we need. Custom fit is how we ensure your costume doesn't just fit — it fits you, perfectly.

How do I know which size to choose?
We offer both standard sizing and fully custom measurements. For standard sizing, visit our Sizing Guide for detailed measurement charts across all our size categories:

  • Child Alpha (XS–XL)
  • Child Numeric (3/4–11/12)
  • Adult Alpha (XS–XL)
  • Adult Numeric (6–22)
  • Jewelry (bracelets & necklaces by length)
  • One Size

When in doubt, always size up — or reach out to us before ordering. A quick message to our studio can save a lot of back-and-forth. We'd rather get it right the first time.

What measurements do I need to provide for a custom order?
For garments, we typically need: bust/chest, waist, hip, height, and sometimes inseam or sleeve length depending on the design. We'll send you a clear measurement guide with your order confirmation. Please measure carefully — our craftswomen build to what you give us, and precision makes all the difference.

Can I order for an unusual body shape or size that doesn't fit standard sizing?
Absolutely. That's literally what we're here for. We reject the "one size fits all" mentality in every stitch we sew. If you're between sizes, outside standard ranges, or have specific fit needs — contact us before ordering and we'll work through it together.

🕰️ Timelines & Production

How long does it take to receive my order?
Production timelines vary by design complexity. Most pieces take 3–6 weeks from order confirmation to shipment. More elaborate, heavily embellished, or fully custom designs may take longer. We'll give you an honest production estimate at checkout or upon inquiry — and we'll keep you updated along the way.

Can I rush my order?
Rush requests may be accommodated depending on current studio capacity. Please contact us before placing your order to ask about rush availability. We want to say yes whenever we can, but our craftswomen's best work takes time — we won't sacrifice quality to hit a deadline that doesn't serve you.

Do you take holiday season orders?
Yes, but we book up early — especially for Halloween and the winter holiday season. We recommend ordering at least 6–8 weeks before your event. If you're planning for a specific date, reach out early and let us help you plan accordingly.

📦 Shipping

Where do you ship?
We currently ship within the United States only. At this time, we do not accept international orders — a decision we've made primarily to protect our customers and our studio from international fraud risk. We may eventually expand to international shipping, but we want to do it right when we do. Thank you for understanding.

How will my order be shipped?
We ship via USPS for most standard orders. For rush items, priority shipping, or overnight delivery, we ship via FedEx or UPS — we'll confirm the carrier for your specific service level when you book. All orders are carefully packed to protect our handcrafted pieces in transit.

What are the delivery timelines once my order ships?
Once your order leaves our studio:

  • Standard shipping: Usually delivers within 7–10 business days — and often sooner.
  • Express and overnight shipping: Delivered on the schedule selected at checkout.

Please note: All express and overnight shipping fees are non-refundable, regardless of actual arrival timing. Once we hand your package to the carrier, delivery timing is in their hands.

What if my order arrives damaged?
We pack every order with care, but if something arrives damaged, please contact us within 48 hours of delivery with photos. We'll make it right — that's a promise.

⚡ Halloween Rush & Express Production

What is Halloween Rush?
Halloween Rush is our signature rush production service — and honestly, it's become synonymous with Wicked & Wonder. It's how we show up for our community when the clock is ticking and the costume has to be right. It means our studio reprioritizes your piece in the production queue, sources materials expeditiously, and moves your order to the front. We're proud of it.

What's the difference between Halloween Rush and express shipping?
Great question — and an important one. These are two completely separate services:

  • Halloween Rush fee: Covers the cost of rush production — the labor, the prioritization, the expedited materials sourcing. This gets your piece made faster.
  • Express/overnight shipping fee: Covers the cost of getting your finished piece to your door faster. This gets your piece delivered faster.

They work together, not instead of each other. For example:

Halloween Rush: $100 + Overnight Shipping: $35 = $135 total

Both fees are non-refundable. Rush production begins the moment you book it. Shipping fees are paid to the carrier and are non-recoverable. We're clear about this upfront because we want you to feel confident, not surprised.

🔄 Returns & Exchanges

What is your return policy?

Wicked & Wonder is not in the business of forcing customers to keep things they are unhappy with. If you're not satisfied and completely happy with your item or fit, we will work it out to make sure you are.

Here's how the process works:

Step 1 — Reach out first.
Email us at hello@wickedandwonder.com to request a return authorization before shipping anything back. Please do not return an item without contacting us first — we need to understand what happened so we can make it right for you.

Step 2 — We review and respond.
We'll review your return reason and respond within 1–2 business days with an approval decision and clear next steps. No form letters, no runarounds — a real answer from a real person.

Step 3 — We send you a return shipping address and label.
Once your return is approved, we'll provide a return shipping address and — where applicable — a prepaid return shipping label. Once approved, we'll generate that label for you and make the process as easy as possible.

Step 4 — We make it right.
Depending on the situation, we can:

  • Adjust or remake the piece with corrected measurements if it's a fit issue
  • Remake the item if we made an error (wrong color, wrong appliqué, craftsmanship issue)
  • Process a refund as appropriate to the situation

We're on your side. We want you to love what you receive.

What about shipping costs for returns?

Outbound shipping (the original shipping to you): May or may not be refunded depending on the nature of the return — we'll review this on a case-by-case basis.

Return shipping (sending the item back to us): Depends on why you're returning:

  • Our error (wrong color, wrong appliqué, craftsmanship defect) → We cover return shipping.
  • Customer-side damage (child wear-and-tear, accidental damage, etc.) → Customer covers return shipping.
  • No-reason return on a custom order → Customer covers return shipping.

We think this is fair. When we get it wrong, we own it fully. And we ask the same good faith from our customers.

Can I cancel my order?
Custom orders may be cancelled within 24 hours of placement for a full refund. After production begins, cancellations are not accepted — materials have been sourced and work has begun specifically for you. Ready-to-ship orders may be cancelled before they ship; contact us immediately if you need to cancel.

🧵 Materials & Craftsmanship

What kind of materials do you use?
We source premium, quality fabrics and embellishments — from shimmering crinkle organza to genuine Swarovski crystals. We do not use the synthetic, low-grade materials common in mass-produced costumes. Every material is chosen for beauty, durability, and how it moves and feels on the body.

Do you use child-safe materials for children's costumes?
Always. When we're making for children, we think like parents — because we are parents. We specifically select soft, comfortable, high-quality natural fibers (like cotton and breathable blends) that are gentle against children's skin, safe for active play, and durable enough to survive a full Halloween night. Our children's pieces are designed to be worn and played in — not just photographed and hung up.

Are your pieces durable enough for repeated wear?
Absolutely. We build for heirloom quality — not a single season and done. These are pieces that can pass from child to sibling, from sibling to cousin, from cousin to a friend's little one. Many of our customers wear their pieces season after season, to performances, conventions, and celebrations. Treat them with care and they'll last.

Are your designs safe for children?
Yes. We design with children's safety in mind — avoiding small embellishments on pieces intended for very young children. If you have specific safety concerns for your child's age or needs, let us know when ordering.

🧼 Care Instructions

How do I care for my Wicked & Wonder piece?
Care instructions are included with every order and vary by design and materials. General guidelines:

  • Hand wash or dry clean recommended for most embellished pieces
  • Lay flat to dry — do not wring or tumble dry
  • Store hanging or folded in acid-free tissue to protect embellishments
  • Avoid prolonged direct sunlight to preserve colors and crystals

When in doubt, spot-clean and handle gently. These are wearable works of art — they'll reward you for treating them as such.

Can I iron or steam my costume?
Steam on low is generally safe for most fabrics; direct iron contact should be avoided on embellished areas. Always check your care card first.

💫 The Wonder Factor™

What is the Wonder Factor™?
The Wonder Factor™ is our philosophy made visible — it's the extra. The interactive pocket that reveals its secrets as it fills with candy. The cape encrusted with hundreds of opalescent Swarovski crystals. The skirt that twinkles and lights. It's the design element you didn't expect but can't imagine living without.

We don't make costumes. We craft experiences.

The Wonder Factor™ lives in the light, the bloom, the softness. Ruffles that catch wind. Innocent magic. Luminous. Playful. It's the child's heart of every piece we make.

Do all pieces have Wonder Factor™ elements?
Many do — and those that don't still carry our commitment to detail, fit, and craftsmanship. When a listing highlights a Wonder Factor™ feature, you'll know.

🖤 The Wicked Edge™ — Our Second Philosophy

What is the Wicked Edge™?
If Wonder is the light, Wicked is the dark — and we embrace both without apology.

The Wicked Edge™ is our philosophy of sophisticated, chic noir. It's the allure of dark enchantment, the magnetism of the shadow side of fairy tale. Where Wonder Factor™ gives you bloom and innocence, the Wicked Edge™ gives you power and mystique. Dark sophistication. Deliberate menace. The beautiful side of the dangerous.

Every design we make lives somewhere on the Wicked/Wonder binary — or in the electric tension between them.

How do Wonder and Wicked differ?

Wonder Factor™ Wicked Edge™
Feeling Light, bloom, innocence Dark, sophisticated, alluring
Palette Soft pinks, lilacs, golds, pastels Deep blacks, jewel tones, rich purples
Silhouette Soft, airy, romantic — tutus, ruffles, bloom Dramatic, commanding — Sorceress Silhouette™, Ceremonial Silhouette™
Energy Play, joy, magic Power, mystery, dark enchantment
Examples Fairy princesses, flower fairies, enchanted woodland Wicked Witch, sorceresses, dark queens, Gothic Regalia™

Can a piece embody both?
Absolutely — and some of our most beloved designs live exactly in that tension. A dark queen who's still regal and beautiful. A wicked witch with a ruffle of innocence at the hem. The interplay between Wicked and Wonder is where our most interesting design conversations happen.

Every piece is a position in that story. When you choose Wicked & Wonder, you're not just choosing a costume — you're choosing which side of the spell you want to stand on.
