Size & Fit
Introduction
At Wicked & Wonder, fit is not an afterthought — it is the foundation of everything we make. Since 2009, we have rejected the "one size fits all" mentality in every stitch, every seam, every silhouette we craft. A costume should not just fit — it should fit you, perfectly, making you feel as extraordinary as the character you're stepping into.
Because our collection spans handmade costumes, fitted performance silhouettes, structured accessories, delicate jewelry, and relaxed sleepwear — each category carries its own sizing logic. This page serves as your general reference point across all Wicked & Wonder product families. When a specific product page includes its own size chart or measurement guide, those instructions are the authority — they supersede this general guide. Always follow the sizing information on your specific product page.
If you are ever between sizes, uncertain, or shopping for a unique body shape: reach out to us before you order. A quick message to our studio saves back-and-forth — we would rather get it right the first time.
General Body Measurement Guide
All measurements listed below are body measurements — the dimensions of the person, not the finished garment. When ordering, use these charts to identify your size category, then follow any additional measurement instructions provided on the product page.
All measurements are in inches unless otherwise noted.
Children's Alpha Sizes
Alpha sizing (XS–XL) is used for more relaxed-fit and flexible-fit children's styles including sleepwear, loungewear, basics, and everyday wearables.
| Size | Age Range | Height (in) | Chest (in) | Waist (in) | Hip (in) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| XS | 3–4 yrs | 37–41" | 21–22" | 20–21" | 22–23" |
| S | 5–6 yrs | 42–46" | 23–24" | 21–22" | 23–25" |
| M | 7–8 yrs | 47–51" | 25–26" | 22–23" | 25–27" |
| L | 9–10 yrs | 52–55" | 27–28" | 23–24" | 27–29" |
| XL | 11–12 yrs | 56–59" | 29–30" | 24–25" | 29–31" |
Alpha sizes are intended as a general fit reference for flexible-knit styles. For structured costumes and made-to-measure silhouettes, use Children's Numeric sizing below or provide custom measurements when prompted at checkout.
Children's Numeric Sizes
Numeric sizing (3/4 through 11/12) is used for costumes, structured garments, and made-to-measure pieces where precise fit and silhouette accuracy matter.
| Size | Age Range | Height (in) | Chest (in) | Waist (in) | Hip (in) | Inseam (in) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 3/4 | 3–4 yrs | 37–41" | 21–22" | 20–21" | 22–23" | 17–19" |
| 5/6 | 5–6 yrs | 42–46" | 23–24" | 21–22" | 23–25" | 19–21" |
| 7/8 | 7–8 yrs | 47–51" | 25–26" | 22–23" | 25–27" | 21–23" |
| 9/10 | 9–10 yrs | 52–55" | 27–28" | 23–24" | 27–29" | 23–25" |
| 11/12 | 11–12 yrs | 56–59" | 29–30" | 24–25" | 29–31" | 25–27" |
When in doubt between two sizes for a structured costume, size up — our craftswomen can adjust a piece that's slightly large. A piece that's too small cannot be let out.
Adult Alpha Sizes
Alpha sizing (XS–XL) is used for adult accessories, flexible-fit garments, and select costume pieces designed with ease and drape in mind.
| Size | Height | Bust/Chest (in) | Waist (in) | Hip (in) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| XS | 5'0"–5'4" | 30–32" | 23–25" | 33–35" |
| S | 5'2"–5'6" | 33–35" | 26–28" | 36–38" |
| M | 5'4"–5'8" | 36–38" | 29–31" | 39–41" |
| L | 5'5"–5'9" | 39–41" | 32–34" | 42–44" |
| XL | 5'6"–5'10" | 42–44" | 35–37" | 45–47" |
Alpha sizes are intended for flexible and relaxed-fit styles. For structured adult gowns, performance silhouettes, and made-to-measure costumes, refer to Adult Numeric sizing below.
Adult Numeric Sizes
Numeric sizing is used for adult costumes, structured gowns, dramatic silhouettes, and all made-to-measure pieces. These are standard US women's dress sizes translated to body measurements.

|---|---|---|---|---|
| 6 | 33–34" | 26–27" | 36–37" | 5'4"–5'7" |
| 8 | 35–36" | 28–29" | 38–39" | 5'4"–5'8" |
| 10 | 37–38" | 30–31" | 40–41" | 5'4"–5'8" |
| 14 | 40–41" | 33–34" | 43–44" | 5'4"–5'9" |
| 16 | 42–43" | 35–36" | 45–46" | 5'4"–5'9" |
| 18 | 44–45" | 37–38" | 47–48" | 5'4"–5'9" |
| 20 | 46–47" | 39–40" | 49–50" | 5'4"–5'9" |
| 22 | 48–49" | 41–42" | 51–52" | 5'4"–5'9" |
These ranges represent the body, not the garment. If you fall between sizes, contact us — we want to make sure you get the right fit. Extended sizes beyond 22 may be available for select designs; inquire before ordering.
Jewelry & Accessories
| Bracelet Size | Wrist Circumference | Best Fit |
|---|---|---|
| 5.0" | Up to 5.0" | Child / Petite |
| 5.5" | 4.75–5.25" | Child / Small Adult |
| 6.0" | 5.25–5.75" | Average Adult |
| 6.5" | 5.75–6.25" | Average Adult |
| 7.0" | 6.25–6.75" | Larger Adult |
| 7.5" | 6.75"+" | Larger Adult / Generous Fit |
Measure your wrist snugly with a soft tape measure or a strip of paper. Our bracelet sizes are the finished interior circumference of the piece. For a relaxed drape, size up; for a close fit, use your exact measurement.
| Necklace Length | Typical Fall Point | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 15" | Base of throat / collarbone | Classic choker length; snug and dramatic |
| 18" | Just below collarbone | Most versatile; our most popular length |
| 26" | Mid-chest / sternum | Opera length; statement layering |
Necklace lengths are measured end-to-end including clasp. The fall point will vary with neckline cut and individual anatomy. When in doubt, 18" is the most versatile length for most necklines.
One Size Fits Most accessories — including certain headpieces, crowns, wings, capes, and standalone props — are designed with adjustable closures, flexible structures, or generous dimensions that accommodate the widest range of wearers. Product listings will note when an item is One Size.
How to Measure
Before reaching for a size, reach for a soft tape measure. The difference between a costume that transforms you and one that doesn't fit often comes down to three accurate numbers. Here's how to take them properly.
Wrap the tape measure around the fullest part of the chest or bust, keeping it parallel to the floor and snug but not compressive. Do not pull tight — breathe naturally. Record the number in inches.
Measure around the natural waistline — the narrowest point of the torso, typically about an inch above the navel. Stand naturally, do not suck in. This is the body's natural waist, not the waistband of clothing.
Measure around the fullest part of the hips and seat, approximately 7–9 inches below the natural waistline. Keep the tape level all the way around.
Stand against a wall without shoes. Place a flat book on top of the head, level with the floor. Mark the wall and measure from the floor to the mark. For children, measure in the morning — children are slightly taller before gravity compresses the spine through the day.
Stand straight with feet about 6 inches apart. Measure from the crotch seam (inner leg junction) to the ankle bone. For children: measure along the inner leg to the desired hem point. Inseam is requested for pants, full-length costumes, and garments with leg structure.
Measure across the back from the edge of one shoulder (where the shoulder meets the top of the arm) to the other. Keep the tape straight across the upper back. Shoulder width is requested for structured jackets, capes, and silhouettes where shoulder placement matters to the look.

Design-Specific Sizing
A note on product-specific size charts.
Some Wicked & Wonder designs use measurements or sizing unique to that costume — a specific silhouette, construction method, or character-accuracy requirement that calls for its own approach. When a product page includes its own size chart or measurement instructions, those instructions supersede this general guide. Always follow the sizing information on your specific product page.
When in doubt: contact our studio before ordering. We are here to help you get it right.
This applies especially to:
- Structured gowns and dramatic silhouettes — where fit is architectural and measurement-specific
- Character-accurate costumes — where proportions are tied to the character's aesthetic, not standard sizing alone
- Sleepwear and fitted knit styles — which use their own grading and ease calculations
- Accessories designed to layer — which may need to fit over a specific base garment
Custom & Made-to-Order Measurements
Wicked & Wonder's made-to-measure process begins at checkout, not before. When you order a custom-fit piece, we will follow up with a personalized measurement request tailored to the specific design — including only the measurements we actually need for that silhouette, clearly explained and illustrated.
You do not need to submit measurements at the time of purchase for most made-to-order designs. Complete your order, and within 1–2 business days our studio will reach out with your measurement guide.
A few things to know:
- Custom measurements are binding. We build to what you give us. Accuracy matters. If you are unsure how to take a measurement, wait for our guide — it includes illustrations.
- We do not promise a "custom fit" on every listing. Some designs offer standard sizing with made-to-measure options available on request. Read your product listing carefully, and contact us if you want a specific measurement service on a standard-size piece.
- Some designs require additional post-purchase measurements — particularly for sleeves, necklines, and character-specific construction. We will tell you exactly what we need and why.
- Rush orders and tight timelines: If you have a deadline, tell us immediately. Our craftswomen need adequate time to build to your measurements correctly. Please do not submit rushed measurements — precision is more important than speed.
For questions about our measurement process, or if your body measurements fall outside our standard size ranges, contact us before placing your order. We have been fitting people beautifully since 2009 — outside the standard range is not outside our range.
