Perfectly coiffed black hair. Perfectly put-together clothes. She listens when you talk, waits on you hand and foot, cooks your favorite meals and creates an entire world where you are always at the center of it.
She was the perfect mother.
Until she wasn’t.
Behind those black button eyes was something altogether different—and once the Other Mother stopped pretending, there was no mistaking who had really been waiting on the other side of that little door.
W&W’s Other Mother Button Eyes are our ode to Coraline and capture that deliciously unsettling transformation: oversized black buttons, sharp black-and-white polka dots and trailing flashes of red, assembled into a strange little looking glass that’s charming at first glance…
and considerably less so at second.
Now you See Me
Button eyes are wonderfully creepy and nearly everyone has them in Corline. Walking around Halloween night with your eyes covered? Considerably less wonderful.
When W&W first created our Other Mother Button Eyes, we wanted the unmistakable illusion of real, dimensional buttons covering the eyes without asking the wearer to sacrifice visibility to get it and of course to ensure safety of small children. Our solution was to take the buttons off the face altogether and turn them into a handheld looking glass.
Raise them to your eyes and—just like that—you’re the Other Mother. Lower them again and you’re free to walk, trick-or-treat, climb stairs and navigate the real world with your vision unobstructed. The buttonholes even offer a tantalizing peek through when they’re held in place for photographs and impressions.
Part costume accessory, part prop and part wonderfully peculiar object, they’ve become something more than we originally imagined. Coraline collectors and fans have even adopted them simply because they love having a little piece of the Other World and their own pair of button eyes to call their own.
The Other Mother Is Watching
Carry your Button Eyes alongside an Other Mother costume for Halloween, cosplay, conventions and photographs, or make them the finishing touch to a mother-and-daughter pairing with your own little Coraline.
The lightweight wire can be gently shaped for a comfortable fit when held to the face, while the long wand makes it easy to slip in and out of character whenever the moment calls for it. Pose with them. Perform with them. Display them with your Coraline collection—or simply keep them nearby in case a certain little door should happen to appear.
Hold them delicately. Smile sweetly. Look perfectly harmless.

Your Other Mother Disguise
Each order includes one handcrafted Other Mother Button Eyes lorgnette or Mask, inspired by Coraline, featuring:
* Two oversized dimensional black button eyes
* Flexible, adjustable wire eye bridge
* Handheld wand in your choice of Child or Adult length
* Black, red and white ribbon, bow and trailing embellishments
Child and Adult versions use the same full-size button eyes. Only the wand length changes to better suit the wearer.
Each piece is individually finished by hand, so slight variations in ribbon placement and arrangement are part of its wonderfully Other World character.

A Trick of the Eye
The Other Mother’s stare is built around real, dimensional buttons, not a printed or painted imitation. Their oversized scale creates the wonderfully uncanny appearance of buttons replacing the wearer’s eyes, while open buttonholes allow glimpses through when the piece is raised for posing.
A lightweight, flexible wire bridge allows the two eyes to be individually repositioned, widened or narrowed for the wearer. The long handheld wand makes the transformation temporary by design: raise it for the Other Mother illusion, lower it whenever clear, unobstructed vision is needed.
Each piece is individually assembled and finished with black-and-white polka dot decorative and vivid red white & black cascading ribbons, giving it the deliberately peculiar, handmade quality of something that might have slipped through the little door.
(Because each Button Eyes piece is finished by hand, slight variations in ribbon placement and arrangement are part of its character.) Your relic from the OTHER world!

Made to Meet Your Eyes
The Other Mother’s button eyes are designed to be adjusted to the wearer rather than sitting in one rigid position. The lightweight flexible wire bridge can be gently bent, widened or narrowed, allowing the buttons to move closer together or farther apart to better align with the wearer’s individual eye spacing.
Choose from two sizes:
* Child — our signature button eyes with a shorter wand proportioned for younger wearers.
* Adult — the same full-size button eyes with a longer wand designed for adult use and dramatic posing.
Care & Shipping
Keep Your Eyes Open
Button Eyes are delicate, handcrafted pieces, so please handle them with care. Visibility through the buttonholes can be limited, so be careful when walking with the mask held to your face. Store safely between trips to the Other World.
Each Other Mother Button Eyes mask is individually handcrafted to order. Please allow approximately 3–7 business days after your order and customization details are finalized for shipment. Production times may increase as Halloween approaches, so please order early for October delivery.
